Figuring it out
Nov. 26th, 2017 09:41 pmI love the stats/progress tracking aspect of the NaNo site. It's the only reason I actually look at the site, and I love the feeling of accomplishment it gives me.
Also, it tells me a lot of information, like the fact that I'm averaging over 400 words a day. I'm on track to squeak in 12,000 words this month in total. And I'm figuring out goals to set for myself going forward, but I want at least some element of that stats/tracking feature.

Full disclosure: I haven't done more than set up an account, so I'm not sure if it will work as advertised. But it seems like you just create progress bars for various projects that you can track however you like (ie: in addition to tracking by word count, you can opt to track pages if you're revising, or even track time). And it lets you friend people to see their progress and cheer them on.
My name on there is ghostlight, if you're looking. ^_~
What, precisely, will I be tracking? So glad you asked! I want to break down this month's word count and see what went where. So I'll be measuring pages revised, blog posts published, days journaled; words written in first draft, and total words written across all categories. Maybe I'll find something more to add as time goes on.
Still working on what monthly goals I'll want to set, but this is a start! Amazing what a simple status bar can do for my motivation and productivity...
